Preface
This book’s writing was absorbing, a journey from my student days to my teaching career. As a science student, writing poems, regardless of language, seems irrelevant to my profession, even though these poems emerged in my thoughts, found their words, and took shape on paper.
From 5th standard to BSc 2nd year, English was a subject I studied, encompassing poems, dramas, stories, and grammar. Reading and writing in English was essential. After BSc, English was absent from my coursework, and I, a BSc graduate, pursued MSc in chemistry. From 8th standard through MSc, I studied in English-medium. Initially, I resisted the subject, finding it challenging as English is not my mother tongue, which is Kannada. To improve, I began watching English movies and listening to English pop music, actively trying to learn the language.
Since 2016, I've been writing Kannada poems and personality development books, and I'm now considering writing a book in English. To do so requires a strong vocabulary, which I've been building through reading many novels, personality development guides, and poetry collections. This has spurred my journey into writing English poems.
My book, "Songs of My Soul," contains over 60 poems encompassing various aspects of life, nature, society, pain, gain, win, and loss. This book marks a step towards my engagement with English literature.
I ask readers to forgive any errors they may find, and I pray that God blesses me and allows the book to reach many beautiful hearts filled with wonderful, happy souls.
